Chapter 2 reading notes

Posted on: February 3, 2010

For chapter two I liked the part on framing. When you think about it you read what you read in the newspaper and watch things on the news for a reason. It’s because the media “frames” it or zeros in on what they want you to pay attention to. An example in the book was a bottled water company. They encourage you to buy exspensive packaged water because it is “better” for you.

I also liked the section on source credibilty. Readers like it when their stories are credible and there are quotes to go alone with it. It makes the story more believable. The three key elements in credibility are expertise, sincerity and charisma.

The part on emotional appeals really made sense. The best way to get a message across is to get a readers emotions involved. This is especially beneficial for fundraising purposes.
