Chapter 4 reading notes

Posted on: February 17, 2010

For chapter 4 I liked reading about the part about a human interest piece.  When you think about it people love hearing about the rich and famous. We don’t even know them, however we feel like they’re our best friends. And it was good to know that to be a human interest piece, it doesn’t always have to be about celebrities or famous people. They can also be written about everyday ordinary people who do extraordinary things.

I also liked reading how, Judith Rich,  gave tips to develop creative ideas. One of the tips she gave that I really liked was, hear things with new ears. Sometimes, people can be so closed minded they only hear what they want to hear. Another tip I liked was, don’t be put off by rules that don’t even exist. Don’t be afraid to branch out and do things that others may think are off limits.

I also liked the part about special events. In the future I want to plan events, and I liked the three tips they gave:

1)Think about how the event will reflet on the brand identity and the message it will send to the cosumers.

2)Create fun and engaging visuals for the media that will look good on camera.

3)Make sure you give the media a very clear idea of what those visuals will be in advance of the event.
