Chapter 6

Posted on: March 2, 2010

In chapter six I enjoyed learning about media advisories, or media alerts.  They tell editors about upcoming events that they may be interested in covering. Instead of using paragraphs media advisories  use bulleted points.

I also was impressed by the electronic media kits. Instead of a print media kit, it is done electronically through email or online information. I was surprised to hear that journalist prefer this way also.

I enjoyed the tips about writing the perfect pitch.  One of the important things to do is to find out if the editor wants the information in email or print form. Another important factor is gaining the trust of the reporter. When you create a relationship with the reporter, he or she is more likely to cover your story.

This information is from my book: Public Relations Writing and Media Techniques
