Chapter 9 reading notes

Posted on: March 30, 2010

Chapter nine was about how to write for radio and television.  Radio isn’t always as fun and exciting as TV, but on a local level is it a very cost-effective way to get promotional information and advertising out about your company.  A good public relations practitioner does their research about the station and then submits material that the station accepts to have a better chance of getting it on the air.

One tip for writing a radio news release is that a release should never be longer than 60 seconds. Another thing to remember is a radio news release is not an advertisement or a sales promotion, it is simply journalism.

Television separates itself from other media because it gives impact by its visual elements. TV is the primary source of news, entertainment and information. There are almost as many television stations in the United States as there are daily newspapers.

This information is from my book: Public Relations Writing and Media Techniques
